Fear Play is another element or activity used in BDSM, and one of the most basic and visceral fears is of being left alone. A Dominant will use Abandonment play to emphasize their controlling position and the vulnerability of the submissive/s. It can involve restraint as well as the Dominant distancing themselves from their submissive/slave. It is a form of role-play and is often imagined in fantasies.  Abandonment play is an extension of putting imagination into reality.
