Confinement generally refers to any activity that restricts the movement of another person. In BDSM, this can include cages, bondage gear such as ropes, handcuffs, and other devices of torture. It can also be a room that is used in 'prison play' in which submissives/slaves are locked away in a prison cell. The Dominant in the play session will determine the length of time their submissive/slave should spend in confinement. Confinement is most often used as a disciplinary measure by a Dominant when their submissive/slave has not obeyed an instruction. In the case of 'pet play', a cage will often be used to put a naughty puppy or kitten in a time-out until they calm down and listen to the instructions given to them.
